Dear Neshobe families,

In an effort to remain as transparent as possible, we are writing to inform you of two incidents that occurred this week at Neshobe School. There is a significant amount of information/misinformation going around on Facebook and other platforms about a bomb threat at Neshobe as well as someone having a hit list. Neither of these is accurate.

We did have two threats this week. Two Neshobe students made verbal threats regarding doing harm, and these threats were immediately reported to administration and counselors. The incident reports were also shared with RNESU central office, who directed the team to begin an investigation.

Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and all policies, procedures and protocols are followed when a threat is made. When an incident like this happens, our policy and protocol is to trigger the behavioral threat assessment team, and determine if the threats are legitimate and credible. If a threat is deemed credible, law enforcement is immediately notified. Please know that at no time this week was there any immediate danger to any student or staff member. Our procedures allow us to handle these situations with little disruption to other students in the building, many of whom are unaware that a threat was even made.

We appreciate your willingness to continually trust us with your children, and apologize if families feel uninformed. It is our hope and intention to provide students and staff with a safe and caring environment at Neshobe School, and we will keep working on our procedures and practices to make sure families have access to information as appropriate.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to my office or the superintendent of schools, Kristin Hubert.

Best,

Vicki Wells, Ed.D.

Principal, Neshobe School
