Creating a Culture of Kindness and Safety at School
At Neshobe School, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and included. We work every day to build a learning community where kindness is expected, and where everyone can grow and thrive together.
Recently, we’ve noticed an increase in the use of language that can be harmful or hurtful to others, as well as students putting hands on each other when feeling frustrated or upset. We want to take a moment to remind our students, families, and school community of the values that guide us.
Words and Actions Matter at Neshobe
Words matter and so do our actions. When students choose kind, respectful words and manage big feelings in healthy ways, they help make school a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
We understand that students are learning how to manage emotions and navigate relationships, and we are here to support them in that growth each and every day. Our staff works hard to help students build positive habits, practice empathy, and solve problems peacefully.
To continue reinforcing these values, we are meeting with various grade levels to review our schoolwide expectations. These conversations will focus on how we can all contribute to a community where kindness, safety, and belonging are at the center of everything we do. Students will have the opportunity to reflect on their role in making school a positive space for everyone and to share ideas on how we can support one another better.
We have seen incredible acts of kindness, compassion, and inclusion from our students and families, and we are so grateful for the positive examples you continue to set. Together, let’s keep moving in this direction by reinforcing the message at home and at school:
Kindness and Empathy are superpowers
We choose our words wisely knowing that words can lift people up or have the opposite effect
We keep our hands to ourselves at all times
We are all responsible for creating a community where everyone feels safe and included.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school a place where every child feels supported, respected, and inspired to do their best.
