Dear Families and Caregivers,
Creating a culture of care and community within a school can often feel a lot like family life. There are many moments when students get along beautifully, say mostly kind things, and show genuine support for one another. These are the moments that remind us how strong and connected our community can be.
At other times, however, students may disagree, speak in frustration, or say unkind things. When that happens, they need guidance, reflection, and reminders about what is appropriate and what it means to treat one another with care. Just like in a family, these moments are not failures, they are opportunities to learn and grow through communication practices.
As a school community, we work diligently to follow up on student interactions each day. It is a priority for us to meet students where they are developmentally and socially, and to maintain open and consistent communication with you as partners in this work. Student dynamics shift from year to year, class to class, and developmental stage to developmental stage. We remain responsive to those changes.
Our commitment to living our school values, being safe, kind, and responsible, guides every conversation and every restorative moment. Each opportunity to talk through a challenge strengthens our community and helps students build the skills they need for lifelong relationships.
We also recognize that students come to school carrying many different messages and experiences from the world around them. In the midst of that, our message remains clear and consistent: our community thrives when we care for one another, remain supportive, and approach one another with curiosity and compassion.
Thank you for partnering with us in fostering a school environment where every child feels valued, supported, and connected.
