Dear Families and Caregivers,

I am writing to share an important personal update with our Neshobe community.

At the end of this school year, I will be stepping away from my role as principal in order to be closer to family and to support them in their next chapter. This is the right decision for my family, but it is not an easy one.

Neshobe is a special place. It is a school defined by shared responsibility, collaboration, resilience, and a deep commitment to children. Our students bring curiosity, humor, and heart to the building each day. Our staff bring professionalism, skill, and unwavering dedication. Our families bring partnership and support that make our work possible.

As we move through the remainder of the year, my focus remains unchanged: supporting students, strengthening instruction, and ensuring a smooth and thoughtful transition for the school community. Neshobe’s strength lies in its people and in the systems and commitments we have built together. That foundation remains strong.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in me over the past two years. It has been a privilege to serve this community and to partner with you in supporting your children’s growth and success.

More information about transition planning will be shared in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please know how deeply I appreciate being part of the Neshobe community.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is fast approaching! There are a few spots left and we'd love to see them filled! GOTR is a program that is available to girls in grade 3-6. This spring we have at least two really special things to look forward to in the art world. The first is that, thanks to two grants, one from the Vermont Arts Council and another from the Vermont Community Foundation, Neshobe school is able to work with Juniper Creative Arts to create a new community mural at Neshobe School. Juniper Creative Arts is a local family of artists that has worked with schools and other organizations to create amazing murals all over the state. Their work at Neshobe school will include a week-long residency during which every K-6 art class will create artwork that will become part of the mural, a community paint day where the community will be invited to create art for the mural, an after school artist talk for families and the community, and much more! Juniper Creative Arts will begin their work at Neshobe in April. Students will be learning more about this project in the next few weeks. More news on the project will follow in future newsletters! The second thing to get excited about this spring is the return of the BIG Art Show at Otter Valley with an opening celebration set for Thursday May 14th at OV from 6-8. This art show will include artwork from all K-6 students across our school district. Last year we had a very enthusiastic turn out which made the show a lot of fun. We look forward to the event again this year! More details and updates to follow!
