We are Kind

We are Safe

We are Responsible

October 29, 2021

Dear Neshobe Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of October.  The past two months seem to have flown right by.  Students are still settling in and we are continuing to provide explicit instruction around our three schools rules.  These rules - We are Kind, We are Safe, and We are Responsible - extend to the bus.  It is important for the safety of all that students follow the rules set forth on the busses.  If your child does ride the bus, please connect with them about their role in maintaining a safe environment.

Once again we extend our gratitude for your continued patience as we handle additional cases of COVID-19.

Some reminders of upcoming events and pertinent information:

  1. Family Engagement Night: On Tuesday, December 7th, district technology integration coaches Max Burman and Susan Hennessey -- along with school librarian Hannah Fjeld -- will be hosting a technology night for us. This event will take place virtually from 6pm-7pm. They will be discussing digital citizenship -- both what students are learning in school, and how they can be supported at home. They will be covering topics such as: online safety; the impact of social media; living with technology; and, using technology for good. They will also cover district initiatives around technology. They are looking forward to working with you on technology and answering any questions that you might have.

  2. Parent Teacher Conferences: Parent/teacher conferences are being held on the afternoons of Wednesday, November 10th and Monday, November 15th.  Parents will have the option of in-person or virtual conferences.  More information will be coming home next week about how this will work.

  3. Fall is here!  As the weather gets colder, please make sure children come dressed for the changing conditions and temperatures.  This includes: long sleeves, sweaters or sweatshirts, jackets, boots, hats and mittens.

  4. Reminder: Masks remain required in school and on the bus.

Kindness Challenge: In September, the 6th graders embarked on a Kindness Challenge.  Every Monday (or the first day of the school week), each 6th grade student will be given an Act of Kindness on a slip of paper to complete before Friday.  Over the course of 7 weeks, 6th graders completed almost 600 Random Acts of Kindness.

This past week, we have shifted our focus to “Catch a Kid”.  The 6th teachers are actively looking to catch students in a genuine act of kindness. This week, they “caught”  47 individual Acts of Kindness!

News from our Classrooms and Integrated Arts:

Supporting Mr. Clay -

A huge thank you to Nellie and Amanda for their work helping Mr. Clay by folding all of the cleaning cloths.  Their collaboration made the work fun and easy!  Way to go girls!

Mrs Dier’s Class -

This week Mrs. Dier’s kindergarten created some child sized leaf people for Neshobe School. The children stuffed kid sized clothing with leaves and attached them to stakes and placed them on the front lawn of Neshobe as well as by the Neshobe School sign. Please take a drive by to our leaf people. Special thanks to the Fjeld’s who donated the stakes and for Wendy Fjeld who helped out!

Ms. O’Brien -

Ms. O'Brien's class has been celebrating the fall harvest with a focus on corn.  After learning about the history of corn and its many uses, they are finishing with an art project and many corny snacks!

Mrs. Seigle -

Special thanks to Kim Lefebvre and Robin Hanfiled for helping to create this bulletin board outside Mrs. Siegle’s Kindergarten classroom:

Art - Mr. Brodowski

Each year 6th Grade students have the opportunity to participate in a peace themed poster contest hosted by our local Lions Club. The specific theme this year was "We Are All Connected". The following 6th Graders participated this year and put a whole lot of time and effort into their awesome peace posters: Ben Gleason, Amelia Gibbs, Olivia Gibbs, Colby Brown, William Kilpeck, Clover Hobbs, and Addalyn Ketcham. And congratulations to the 6th Grade winners of this year's Peace Poster contest who are: Makenzie McNolty - 3rd place, Laylah Diaz - 2nd place, and Ethan Kenyon - 1st place. Thanks to the Lions Club for hosting this contest! In other news, Square 1 Art order forms should be going home with students early next week.
