November 19, 2021

Dear Neshobe Families,

It is hard to believe that it is the week before Thanksgiving already!  The months seem to go by quickly.

Spirit week has been great!  It has been so fun to see the creative ways that students and staff have dressed this week!

We also know that four of our classes have missed some or all of Spirit week. Thus, we are adding a Spirit Day next week! On Tuesday, November 23rd, students and staff may dress using one of the options (or a combination of options) we provided during Spirit week (as long as they do not interfere with learning).  The options include: Pajama/Comfy Clothes, Hat or Fun Hair, Mismatch, Backwards and/or Inside Out, Classroom Color!  Mix it up and have some fun!

Picture Make-Up Day:

For classes, students and staff that were not here for picture day, the Make-Up day will be on Wednesday, December 1st.

Childers’ Music Fund:

Last week, the Brandon Congregational Church donated $1,000 to the Neshobe School in honor of Eugene and Jean Childers and their dedication to and love of music.  The school community thanks you!!!

In addition, the Congregational Church also donated an additional $500 to the Principal’s Discretionary Funds. Again, a huge thank you to the Brandon Congregational Church for these funds! They are appreciated and will be put to good use!  We will report on that use once it is determined.

Brandon Toy Project:

The Brandon Toy Project also donated $350 dollars worth of Staples Gift Cards for use within the classrooms or other needs around the school.  Thank you as well for the donation!

Next Week:

School will be in session on Monday and Tuesday next week!  We hope everyone enjoys a relaxing Thanksgiving break!

Vermont Agency of Transportation Name a Plow Contest:

Congratulations to the Neshobe 4th grade classroom!  Our 4th graders entered a name into the contest and the name was selected for a local plow!  The plow arrived at Neshobe on Wednesday the 17th where the name was unveiled for all to see. The classes were introduced to the drivers and spent time viewing the inside of the plow, asking questions and celebrating!  The winning plow name: Ice Ice Baby!  Check out the pictures below along with the link to the WCAX news broadcast in which the plow was briefly introduced.

Some reminders of upcoming events and pertinent information:

  1. Equity Audit: You are invited to participate in a focus group on December 6th at 5:00-7:00pm. The focus groups are part of a study being conducted by the Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium (MAEC) to understand how RNESU can advance equity across our district, including feelings and experiences of safety, belonging, and equitable access to high-quality instruction and supports.

The focus group with Parents/Community Members will be held virtually and will last approximately 90 minutes. The focus groups will be led by MAEC facilitators. MAEC will keep your feedback and thoughts strictly confidential and anonymous. If you are willing to participate or have any questions, please email swhite@rnesu.org.

  1. Family Engagement Night: On Tuesday, December 7th, district technology integration coaches Max Burman and Susan Hennessey -- along with school librarian Hannah Fjeld -- will be hosting a technology night for us. This event will take place virtually from 6pm-7pm. They will be discussing digital citizenship -- both what students are learning in school, and how they can be supported at home. They will be covering topics such as: online safety; the impact of social media; living with technology; and, using technology for good. They will also cover district initiatives around technology. They are looking forward to working with you on technology and answering any questions that you might have.
